At the young age of 17, Raja started dancing. He was very much inspired by Michael Jackson, who was a great craze at that time. He danced with his whole heart and soul and never thought that he will take dancing as his career. He met choreographer Sunil Asker after three years and started taking training. At the age of 23, he met Santosh Nair and did Indian Contemporary dance for more than two years.
With the passage of time, he explored different dimensions of dance forms through workshops and experimental work. His enthusiasm can be seen through his various skills. He is well aware of Gymnastics, Social Dancing, Ballet, Contemporary, Ariel as well as Kathakali.
He is attempting to define dance in a unique way and experimenting in his art works presently. He explores and gives emphasis on the stylistic and formalistic aspects of movement and rhythm.

He has worked for various organizations like Tanva creative dance ensemble, Sadhya performing art, Ministry of culture (Govt of India) and many more. With many independent dance productions he has tried to evolve a dance style of his own. Adding feather to his cap, he has worked with renowned choreographers like Farah Khan, Ganesh Acharya, Remo D'Souza, Jojo Khan and Raju Sundaram.
